TALKING CARS & SIPPING RUM: TESHA MAHONEY

If you’ve ever met a true entrepreneur you know they never have one idea floating in their head at a time. That’s a description which fits Tesha Mahoney (@_tee.money_) pretty damn well. Co-founding The Boogaloo, kickstarting her own clothing and accessories label Mother Lover and now embracing the realms of painting and photography – after chatting with Tee you’re bound wanting to do even more in life, and do it creatively.⁣

Tee’s ride and daily driver is a 1962 Mercury Comet, acquired almost two years ago after an accidental eBay purchase. Tee was on the look out for a car and partner, Des was tempted to see what the reserve was on the Comet located in California at the time. After putting in an offer on eBay, Tee was the new owner of this cream machine just a few hours later. “When we got it, it wasn’t lowered”, says Tee. “We put on the pipes and gave it a good once over to make sure it was going to be a reliable daily”. ⁣

Tee has driven the Comet to Brisbane and Sydney on different occasions and says it isn’t very often it missed a beat. “We’ve camped out of it”, Tee explains how versatile this car really is. “and it does a good skid”, she smirks as we do another lap of the car. ⁣

Although Tee’s brand Mother Lover is coming to an end and The Boogaloo was canceled due to the chaos of 2020, I know this won’t be the last we see of Tee. As we sit by the fire and pour a glass of Kraken Spiced Rum, I couldn’t help but imagine how many more fun projects will come from one extremely talented person.⁣
